Scars by Nadia Bruce

Life is box of scars and hope. Insights and experiences of others are the valuable source of inspiration and motivation. ‘Scars’ is one those inspiration that you need to hear . ‘Scars’ is a very powerful book which brings you a hope into your life. Hope inspires us to do the impossible and helps us carry on during different times. It can come in many different shapes and forms. This book is one of the forms.

‘Scars’ is a collection of proses and poetries . They are all written with a dark humour and candour that only someone with a survivor’s gratitude can. It is based on a true experience of the author who experiences on the front lines of her own personal battles with child abuse, domestic violence, molestation, addiction, crime, cutting, incarceration, and recovery. This book is also a love letter and a promise that there is ray of hope for a better life, written for the ones that are still out there, still fighting their way in, and not out, who have lost their way, still collecting scars.

This book consists of some thoughtful poems and short stories which have a layer of phases itself. The author hasn’t dragged anything. She has written this book to the point. The readers learn from her words how we can nurture ourselves. The author has represented her art, her pain which was given by her father in the form of poetry and pros like an artist. Every page has deep emotion which is deep in its own way.

There is a lot of things going on in this book but the strength that this book is built up is very much appreciated. Talking about the language, it’s straightforward and stories are holding which probably won’t let the reader to put the book down until it is finished. This book was a small and quick to read telling about author’s experiences in a short way. I’d really recommend this book to everyone out there who are seeking some hope for the challenges they are facing.
